The students and staff at Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center’s (SCCTC) Cosmetology and Massage Therapy Departments recently sponsored a week long fundraising event with proceeds benefiting United Way of Susquehanna County. During the week of February 16th-20th, the students offered the public discounted prices for a variety of services including massages, manicures and pedicures. In addition, students were also able to receive services with permission from their parents to make them feel special and pampered.

Through the generosity of staff, students and parents who supported this event they raised over $1,100.00 towards this year’s campaign results which funds 22 local not for profit health and human service agencies.

Dr. Alice Davis, the Executive Director of the SCCTC, also a United Way of Susquehanna County advisory board member, has long supported the educational and vocational development of children as well as the work United Way is doing. Ms. Amy Bush, program coordinator, spearheaded the activities and shared that all who participated enjoyed giving and receiving spa services.

The SCCTC offers its services to the public. Visit their website at scctc.elklakeschool.org and make an appointment today to treat yourself or a loved one to an afternoon of indulgence all while giving local students the opportunity to practice their skills and trade. Top off your visit by scheduling lunch at SCCTC’s A Touch of Class and The Serfass Solarium restaurants with local culinary students attentively preparing a delicious meal.
