On Wednesday, September 11th, United Way will kick-off its 2013 campaign. More than 50 supporters are expected to rally at a breakfast event that will take place at the United Methodist Church in New Milford. United Way funded agencies will be present with displays and handouts showcasing the wide range of vital services they are providing in our community.

Alex Fried, Public Relations, HSE & Energy Affairs Mgr. of P&G will serve as the keynote speaker. P&G giving represents the largest contribution to United Way of Susquehanna County. His presentation will offer concrete ideas that businesses of any size can implement to put together a successful workplace campaign.

United Way’s campaign theme for this year is “Your Community Needs You!” Dollars raised will be allocated based on the level of services being delivered by area partner agencies. Funds generously donated to the United Way of Susquehanna County will be allocated by a dedicated group made up of local residents, volunteers, and business leaders and invested into programs which produce positive results in improving the quality of life for county residents in the areas of education, income, and health.

“The work of United Way and its partners is vital to the quality of life of all residents in the Susquehanna County community. Together, we can and will build a foundation of prosperity while inspiring others to stand up and make a difference. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, and people are healthy”, said Tom Chamberlain, Volunteer Campaign Chairman.

A number of incentives are being offered to individuals pledging $3 or more per week including a 2 year lease of a 2013 Toyota RAV4 compliments of MotorWorld.

Volunteers interested in assisting with this year’s campaign and area businesses considering running a first time employee campaign are encouraged to call the United Way office at 570-465-3868 or visit our website at unitedwayofsusquehannacounty.org.
